A defective fuel pump will not supply enough fuel to the injectors. This can cause the vehicle to accelerate slowly, or even sputter and stall, especially at high speeds. A clogged fuel filter can also restrict the amount of fuel that reaches the injectors. A dirty mass airflow sensor can cause the wrong data to be be sent to the computer.
I am having the same issues with our 2013 c250, 17,000 miles on it. It has been 3 times now that I accelerate on the highway and the car goes into limp mode, check engine light comes on. Same for your fuel filter. If your filter isn't letting enough fuel pass through, your engine isn't going to accelerate the way you need. Trouble starting your engine is another indicator that your fuel filter is clogged. I have never been able to get the car running at 100% and just have chasing demons for months now. Seems like the more parts I throw at it the worse it runs!
